Ross BBAs Win First Place in National TD Ameritrade Competition
First-year Michigan Ross BBAs Richard Ling and Tony Zhao recently earned an impressive first place win at the 2018 TD Ameritrade University’s thinkorswim Challenge, a virtual collegiate trading competition.
Ling and Zhao turned in an impressive 1,026 percent simulated portfolio gain in four weeks, outperforming 517 teams of students from more than 200 colleges and universities across 49 states.
The prize included a $30,000 gift to Michigan Ross in honor of the students’ success, and the students each received $3,000 into a TD Ameritrade brokerage account, as well as an iPad.
The students discussed their strategy on the TD Ameritrade Network’s education program, “Fast Market.” Through the use of technical analysis and by analyzing investments of past winners, the two were able to live up to their team name “AMaizing Blue.”
