Ross Alum Joins Beyoncé, J.K. Rowling, and Sheryl Sandberg on ‘Most Powerful Moms’ List
Cathy Bessant, BBA ‘82, is not unfamiliar with accolades. The Chief Operations and Technology Officer of Bank of America is one of the biggest names in banking, and she’s ranked No. 3 on American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Banking and No. 1 on Institutional Investor’s Tech 50 list.
Bessant’s most recent ranking places her among famous and accomplished women: She’s on Working Mother Magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Moms” list. She accompanies well-known women in the entertainment, corporate, fashion, and entrepreneurial worlds, such as Beyoncé, Melinda Gates, Sheryl Sandberg, Adele, and more.
Bessant manages a $16 billion budget and more than 100,000 employees and contractors globally. She’s a mother of two and a breast cancer survivor. In order to be a successful working mom, Bessant tells Working Mother to “craft yourself a village.” She says that it’s best to “Know what helps you, what makes things more complicated, and where you’re comfortable with other people stepping in. Then own your choices, and trust your family, your company, and your village to support you and help make it all work.”
