On List of 100 Influential Innovators, Michigan Ross Leaders and Alums Take 25 Spots


Michigan Ross Dean Alison Davis-Blake, Professor Stewart Thornhill, and Desai Family Accelerator Managing Director Kelly LaPierre, and 22 Michigan Ross alums were named to the Techweek 100, which identifies leaders who have made a significant impact on technology and innovation.

TechWeek, which hosts its Detroit event April 13-19, promotes technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. It recognizes leaders who:

  • Play an instrumental role in the growth of an accelerating market-specific technology company
  • Lead specific innovative technology initiatives for public or private corporations in his or her ecosystem
  • Support growth in the community as an advisor or mentor
  • Create a net benefit for the public
  • Are an integral part of companies attaining the necessary capital for success and strategic growth

Davis-Blake, Edward J. Frey Dean, is a leader in developing and implementing positive business practices and developing the next generation of business leaders. Under her leadership Ross students and faculty have engaged with businesses, leaders, and organizations in Detroit.

Thornhill, executive director of the Samuel Zell & Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, connects students with entrepreneurship through a curriculum, events, competitions, and outreach. He also plays an active role in statewide initiatives.

LaPierre runs the Desai Family Accelerator, a partnership between the Zell Lurie Institute and the College of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship that helps startups with funding and early growth.
