Social Funding To Take Center Stage at Ross
The summit will bring together students, faculty, and the public to discuss the changing landscape and increasing diversity of options available for the funding of social initiatives and organizations.
Matt Flannery will deliver the keynote address at the summit. Flannery is the co-founder and CEO of Kiva.org, a micro-lending platform that helps people across the world make an impactful, positive difference in the lives of people in impoverished areas for a loan as small as $25.
More than $476 million has been loaned to those in need through Kiva.org since the organization was founded in 2005. And in those 12 years of operation, lenders have repaid more than 99 percent of those loans. Visit the Kiva.org site to read more about how the loans impact the lives of the lenders.
After Flannery’s keynote address, expert panelists from across sectors will lead breakout sessions discussing crowdsourcing, microlending, venture philanthropy, community banking, impact investing and the future of these social funding options. Panels will be led by experts from the Kresge Foundation, The United Way, Detroit Micro-enterprise Fund, PNC Bank, the Michigan Governor’s Office and more.Honest Tea CEO Seth Goldman. Goldman will share how the brand stays true to its message as he builds a mission-driven business in a profit-driven world. The Ross Net Impact site has more information.
