Here’s Something I Never Thought I’d Say: I Went to an Accounting Symposium... And Had a Really Great Time

By Raul Hernandez, MAcc ‘18 -- To my surprise (and relief!) our time in D.C. was so much more than I imagined. This three-day symposium provided me with an awesome experience and facilitated the start of many good relationships with my classmates.
  • Spend valuable face time with Washington insiders and policymakers.
  • Gain a deep understanding of what influences policy.
  • Learn about current compliance standards and how your expertise can shape new standards.
  • Make valuable connections by networking with alumni and accounting professionals.

Jeff Lemansky, MAcc“I cannot adequately convey just how beneficial this trip was for me, but it definitely opened my eyes; and I think what I learned in D.C. will continue to have an impact on me in the future.”

- Jeff Lemanksy, MAcc

Brynn Twinney, MAcc“The D.C. trip most definitely made me a more marketable individual entering the profession of public accounting, and made me more knowledgeable about our federal government — more than I would have ever learned in a traditional classroom setting.”

- Brynn Twinney, MAcc

The EY Accounting and Public Policy Symposium is offered between orientation and fall term. Students make their own travel arrangements to Washington, D.C. However, accommodations and most meals are provided.
