Andy Friedman launched SkinnyPop in 2010 in Chicago with co-founder Pam Netzky.  Capitalizing on better-for-you trends, SkinnyPop quickly grew from a bootstrapped startup to one of the leading popcorn brands in just a few years.  After selling a majority stake in 2014 to a private equity fund, they rebranded as Amplify Snack Brands and went public in 2015, eventually selling to The Hershey Co. in early 2018.
