Nathan Mainka

Class of 2019

I currently work in pharmaceutical marketing for a large pharmaceutical manufacturer. I have a passion for helping connect the appropriate patients with the products my organization produces.  It is unique and humbling to be in an industry where our aim is to improve the health and well-being of patients.  With a background in 3rd party payer marketing, my career focus has been developing marketing strategies with the goal of helping ensure patients’ access to the ground-breaking medications my company produces.  Recently, I moved from a role as a Payer Strategy Brand Manager to an Account Management role in the State of MI.  My new role’s focus is to take the strategies developed by the payer marketing group and execute those strategies with our account based customers to help ensure coverage for our company’s medicines.

Getting an MBA from Ross has been a long-term goal of mine.  The Weekend MBA offered the unique blend of a cohort based class structure while allowing me to continue to develop new skill sets while working.  In addition to being structured in a cohort, our weekend based configuration draws classmates from a broader geographical and industry footprint than a typical part-time program.  Though I am early in the program, I have already met classmates from numerous industries who travel in from the west coast, east coast, Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and all over MI.

I am humbled and excited to be able to learn from some of the best professors in the world but also from the high caliber classmates in my cohort.
