After spending the last decade working in education non-profit organizations, I became passionate about helping to close gaps among low- and high-income communities by developing strategies that enabled their organizational vision. In order to lead in that work, however, I knew that I had to pursue my MBA to build a more diverse background of experiences, learn solid frameworks for addressing challenges, and develop networks that would help shed new light to problems. Ross’s mission of shaping leaders who want to “build a better world through business” drew me to the Weekend MBA program. I wanted to be around peers who believed in developing ethical, effective business strategies that made an impact on the larger community.
My last year at Ross has exceeded my expectations. I have learned as much from my peers through case competitions and group projects as I have from my professors who have developed the theories that shape contemporary business strategy. I am excited by cases, my conversations with my peers - even by homework! The MBA program has left me with the confidence, experience, and knowledge that I need to pursue leadership roles in rooms I did not once imagine occupying. I am grateful for that and the new friends who have helped me get there.
