Mariel Sena

Class of 2021

I'm a retired collegiate softball player who has since taken her penchant for mobilizing and organizing to the hospitality and tech sectors in Las Vegas and San Francisco. I came to Ross to explore exactly who I am and to invest in myself and amplify my potential for positive impact. While the classroom has already allowed me to build my financial acumen and learn from classmates from a diverse spectrum of personal and professional backgrounds and industries, it has been the opportunities to explore my passions and interests beyond the halls of Ross that have already made business school such a positive experience. Before Ross, most of my free time was spent organizing sober morning dance parties (Daybreaker) or volunteering with organizations servicing the under-resourced communities of San Francisco's Tenderloin district (Code Tenderloin, Because Justice Matters). Now, I spend my time outside the classroom writing for Follies, meeting boss female founders and investors through Women Who Launch, and engaging with positive organizational scholarship as a +Lab fellow. I'm feeling more and more empowered every day to not only pursue professional opportunities in entrepreneurship and human capital after business school but also that I'm becoming the person that I'm meant to be. Ross is an incredibly special place, with people who care, follow-up, and pay it forward, and I feel lucky to be able to call this place home.
