Changhwan Kwon

Class of 2016

Although he had nearly 10 years of business experience, Changhwan’s formal education was in literature. So an MBA was a natural next step to advance in his career.  The Ross GMBA Program stood out for its unique structure, with in-depth study in Japan, China, and Korea as well as the U.S. “This is just fantastic,” he says. “It is very different than the other business school programs. In Korea, the Korean students arranged a trip for the other students, and in Japan, Japanese students arranged a trip. And in China, we had a fantastic session there; we even went to Mongolia.” Just as important as the international experience, though, was the living environment in the U.S., because Changhwan has a wife and a young son along with him. “This is such a nice place,” he says of Ann Arbor. “It’s very safe.” Academically, one of his favorite courses has been Human Behavior and Organization with Professor Noel Tichy: “He strongly encourages his students to find our own teachable point of view to be a global leader. That is very inspiring to me.”
