Abeer Yassine

Class of 2017

Hi! I’m Abeer, a Michigan native and lover of all things Maize and Blue! I entered undergrad at the University of Michigan- Dearborn interested in health care and upon taking my first Health Policy Studies course, I quickly realized that public health and the non-clinical mechanics of health care were an interest of mine, allowing me to look at the field from a different lens. Outside of the classroom, I was involved in Student Government, where I worked on different projects to help advance student life. Additionally, in the Summer of 2015, I had the opportunity to intern at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where I worked on a project that focused on the implementation of health technology to promote integration of health and patient coordination and ultimately improve health outcomes. This opportunity was extremely humbling and eye-opening, as it allowed me to realize that in order to be truly successful in the real world, specifically in health care, then I would need to build upon my business skills. This lead me to explore the Master of Management program at the Ross School of Business, where I wanted to leverage my undergraduate degree and experiences with critical business knowledge to help me further succeed in the workplace. So far, I absolutely love the action-based learning and instrumental career services workshops that Ross has to offer as both have been instrumental in my career preparation and search. I am currently working as a Hospital Engagement Associate for the Michigan Value Collaborative (MVC), a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Collaborative Quality Initiative (BCBSM CQI) housed in Michigan Medicine. In my free time, I enjoy working out, cooking, and exploring Ann Arbor with my friends. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and we can chat!
