Junqing Wang (Joe), MBA'13: Winner of the 2020 Young Alumni Award
The University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business is honored to present Junquing Wang (Joe), MBA '13, with the inaugural Young Alumni Award.
Junqing Wang (Joe) is General Manager of Mobile Health Business Unit at LIANREN Digital Health, which is a newly established China state-owned enterprise focusing on health big data and mobile health solutions. He also oversees the company investments in the external medical service companies and the establishment of resource networks and doctor groups.
During the recent COVID-19, in the collocation with top public hospitals, the Business Unit quickly launched the online platform to support physicians to advise the mass people on healthcare issues without visiting hospitals in person, and provided touchless door-to-door COVID-19 virus detecting tool service.
Joe believes that new technology will eventually reshape the healthcare industry in the new era. With the big data and more AI applications, people will enjoy the more convenient and higher quality medical services at lower cost, and live in a healthier and happier life.
Before joining LIANREN Digital Health, Joe co-founded LiangYiHui Healthcare, a company focusing on oncology therapeutic area and dedicating to physicians and patients. The platform serves more than 60% Chinese physicians relating to cancer diagnosis and treatment, and over 1 million patients of various cancer types. By using the online platform and tools, the Chinese physicians may easily give medical advice and follow up with their patients. The company successfully accomplished three series of fund raising, including from famous venture capitals - Legend Capital and Redhill.
After graduating from Ross MBA in 2013, Joe moved back to his hometown Shanghai and joined Eli Lilly. As the senior marketing manager, he launched Lilly China’s first lung cancer Patient Assistance Program (PAP), supporting over 10,000+ patients to reduce the treatment costs. Meanwhile, Joe has remained active in the Ross community as well. He has been the school MBA interviewer and Ambassador in the past eight years. He is always willing to share his knowledge and experience, and giving advice to either new Rossers or new graduates. He bears the “Go Blue” spirit that we are all together to make Ross a better community. He also initiated the Ross healthcare club in Shanghai to support alumni from different backgrounds but all interesting in healthcare to talk, to share, and to act. In the past two years, many alumni have started their cross-border collaboration from the club.
Joe also serves on the Bethune Spirit Research Association Internet Medicine Committee as the deputy chair, the Digital Health expert of Suzhou Municipal Industry Entrepreneurship Evaluation Committee.
Joe now lives in Shanghai with Cheryl and their two-year-old son Youning. In the leisure time, he enjoys outdoor activities and mountain hiking.
